Systemic HRT: pills, patches, gels
For whole-body symptoms, GoodRx coupon prices in October 2026 were $24.83 for 90 estradiol 2 mg tablets, $37.94 for 8 patches at 0.1 mg/day, and $38.29 for generic estradiol gel ($31.99 with GoodRx's paid Companion plan) [2][11]. Brand Elestrin gel averaged about $317 for two bottles in 2024 [3]. The current labeling suggests starting systemic therapy within 10 years of menopause or before age 60 [12]. Compounded and bioidentical hormones
FDA commissioned a National Academies review of compounded bioidentical hormone therapy because of concerns that patients may not know its uncertain benefits and risks. Compounded hormones are not FDA-approved, and FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality [22]. FDA says the review concluded that widespread use poses a public health concern [13]. The review advised limiting compounded hormones to people who cannot use an FDA-approved product [14]. Utah pharmacies, including compounders, are licensed by DOPL [6]. See bioidentical hormones.

Online clinics can be a price check. Midi Health is insurance-first, with self-pay visits of $250 (first) and $150 (returning) and no membership fee. Evernow memberships start at $35 a month.
