Affiliate commissions
Some review and comparison pages have a button to a telehealth company's site. These are affiliate links: once we join a company's program, it can pay us when a reader signs up. Today they are placeholders. We have not joined any program yet, so they earn nothing. Here is how those links work:
- They are buttons, not hidden text links, and they pass through a /go/ address on our site.
- They carry rel="sponsored", the web standard for paid links.
- They never buy a place in a verdict. Verdicts follow the written rule, and an affiliate button only appears on a review after the verdict is set.
- A disclosure line appears right before the first affiliate button on any page that has one.
- Only companies rated Clean or Use caution can get one. Companies rated Avoid or Not yet rated never get one, whatever they pay or offer. See the verdicts on our reviews page.
Fridays and Shed are both rated Avoid, so their reviews carry no affiliate button and point to alternatives. Companies rated Clean, such as Form Health, Knownwell and MDVIP, are rated by the same rule whether or not they ever pay us.
Sponsored placements on city pages
A local practice can pay for one box on a city page, such as medical weight loss in Houston. Placements start at $300 a month, and each city has room for one practice per topic. The box is always labeled Sponsored, with a line saying it is a paid placement and never an endorsement. It does not rank the practice or place it in any list. No slots have been sold yet, so for now each box says the slot is open. Sponsors must be licensed practices in good standing with their state board and must publish accurate prices. Details and the inquiry form are on sponsor a city.
What money never buys
- A verdict, or a change to one.
- A position in any list, or a "best" label.
- Removal or softening of an FDA letter, BBB rating, lawsuit or complaint record.
- A preview of, or edits to, a review before it goes live.
- An affiliate link for a company rated Avoid or Not yet rated.
Verdicts follow one written rule, set out on our editorial standards page, and the same rule applies whether a company pays us, pays us nothing or has no program at all.
What we do not do
We do not run ad networks, and our pages load no third-party scripts, pixels or trackers. We do not sell personal data. See our consumer health data policy and privacy policy. Who runs the site is on our about page, and the rules for using it are in our terms of use.
Disclosure
Wellchosen Health may earn a commission when you sign up through some links on this site once its affiliate programs are live, and local practices can buy labeled Sponsored placements on city pages. Neither ever changes a verdict.
Questions people ask
Does Wellchosen Health get paid when I sign up with a telehealth company?
Not yet. Our affiliate links are placeholders until we join those programs. Once they are live, some telehealth companies may pay us a commission when a reader signs up through a marked link. Those links carry rel="sponsored" and have a disclosure line right before the first one on each page. Companies rated Avoid or Not yet rated never get one.
Can a company pay to improve its verdict?
No. Verdicts follow a written rule based on FDA warning letters, BBB ratings, complaint patterns and regulator action. Payment, or the lack of it, never changes a verdict or a ranking, and an affiliate deal never buys a place in a verdict.
How much does a sponsored city placement cost?
From $300 a month, for one labeled Sponsored box on one city page topic. Each city has room for one sponsor per topic, and the sponsor must be a licensed practice in good standing with accurate published prices.
Is a Sponsored practice recommended by Wellchosen Health?
No. A Sponsored box is a paid, labeled placement and never an endorsement. It does not change what the page says about prices, safety or any provider.
Does Wellchosen Health sell my data?
No. We do not sell personal data, and our pages load no third-party scripts, pixels or trackers.
