Menopausal HRT supplies estrogen, often alongside a progestogen; TRT supplies testosterone to men who have low levels plus a qualifying diagnosis.
Miami skews older than Houston
Of Miami's 489,812 residents, 15.9% are 65 or older [2]. In Houston the share is 12.3% [7]. Age matters here because FDA's revised labeling favors starting systemic therapy before 60 or within 10 years of menopause, while leaving timing to the patient and prescriber [8]. A Miami woman well past 60 asking about a first systemic prescription is in a different conversation than one in early menopause.

The 2025 and 2026 label rewrite
HHS said in November 2025 that FDA would take heart disease, breast cancer and probable dementia out of the boxed warning on menopause hormones; the endometrial cancer box stays on systemic estrogen-alone products [8]. FDA approved the first revised labels on February 12, 2026. In the same release it counted about 41 million US women aged 45 to 64, yet only about 2 million in a similar age band with a hormone therapy prescription [10]. A Miami clinic that quotes the old warnings as current, or says hormones carry no risk, is out of date either way.
Testosterone offers in Miami
Testosterone labels cover men with primary or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, not age-related decline by itself [11]. The AUA wants two low readings, each under 300 ng/dL, along with symptoms [12]. Since February 2025, every testosterone product carries a blood pressure warning [13]. Online programs list $99 to $199 a month [14] [15], and Hone Health charges a $25 or $155 monthly membership with medication billed on top [16]. Compare online TRT clinics and enclomiphene vs TRT.
When an ad says bioidentical
In Miami ads, "bioidentical" often means custom-compounded. Compounded hormones are not FDA-approved, FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality, and the National Academies found the evidence for their clinical use insufficient [17]. Read bioidentical hormones: cost and clinics.
Questions for the prescriber
Finding care in Miami-Dade
- Ask your primary care doctor or gynecologist first. UHealth and Baptist Health South Florida are the large systems in our research [4] [5]; we did not confirm a dedicated menopause or men's hormone program at either.
- Look up the prescriber on the Florida Board of Medicine site [6].
- Ask whether the products are FDA-approved or compounded.
- Get the yearly total in writing, labs included.
- For telehealth, compare online HRT providers; Midi Health lists a $250 first self-pay visit [18].

Yes, under the AUA algorithm: total testosterone under 300 ng/dL on two tests, plus symptoms, supports the diagnosis [12].
