Membership medicine covers concierge practices that charge a yearly retainer on top of insurance, direct primary care that charges a flat monthly fee instead of billing insurance, and longevity or functional programs sold as packages.
Five kinds of membership medicine
- Concierge: an annual retainer plus insurance billing for visits; AAFP says these center on an in-depth physical and typically serve higher-income patients [6].
- Direct primary care: a monthly fee, generally $50 to $100, usually with no insurance billing [6].
- Urgent-access concierge: Sollis Health includes on-site imaging and labs and specialist referrals, from $4,000 a year [1].
- Functional medicine: we found no Los Angeles practice with a published price we could confirm. See functional medicine.
- Longevity and executive programs: testing packages; see longevity clinics and executive physicals.

California has no DPC statute
DPC Frontier lists no California law that directly addresses direct primary care [5]. That does not ban DPC; it means there is no state statute defining it outside insurance rules. Federally, since January 1, 2026, a qualifying DPC arrangement costing up to $150 a month for one person can be paid from an HSA without ending HSA eligibility [8] [9]. See direct primary care.
Medicare patients
About 14.2% of Angelenos are 65 or older [4]. Under Medicare.gov guidance, the membership fee itself is never covered, and a doctor who accepts assignment may not use it to bill extra for services Medicare already pays for [10]. Read concierge medicine and Medicare before signing.
Executive physicals
The nearest Mayo Clinic Executive Health site is in Scottsdale, Arizona; the program runs 1 to 3 days and does not publish a price [11]. We did not confirm a Los Angeles executive physical price. Nearby concierge pages: Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Orange County.
