The short answer

Pick Ro if you want a brand drug approved for weight loss, such as Zepbound, Wegovy or Foundayo, at the makers' self-pay prices [1]. Pick Noom if the coaching and app matter most and you are fine with a low-dose plan whose medication may be compounded [2]. We have rated Ro (see our Ro review) but not Noom Med, because key facts are still unconfirmed (see our Noom Med review). If you are weighing Ro against Hims instead, see Hims vs Ro.

Brand drug or microdose plan

Ro lists only FDA-approved GLP-1s and says its cash prices match LillyDirect, NovoCare and TrumpRx [1]. Zepbound and Foundayo are approved for weight loss, and their labels set the doses [4] [6]. Noom's footnote says that if your clinician finds compounded medication appropriate it may be used, and that compounded medication is not FDA-approved [2]. Microdosing is not a labeled use of any approved GLP-1: Zepbound's label calls 2.5 mg a starting dose, not a maintenance dose [4]. Read microdosing semaglutide and microdosing tirzepatide before choosing that route.

What each costs over three months

Noom's microdose program costs $99 for the first stretch, then $199 a month plus tax; the footnote does not say whether that $199 includes the drug [2]. On Ro, Zepbound 2.5 mg is $299 a month plus the membership, $39 the first month and up to $149 after [1]. Ro costs more but buys an FDA-approved drug. See Zepbound cost, Wegovy cost and GLP-1 prices for every channel.

Who each fits

  • Ro: people who qualify for a weight loss drug and want a brand product at the maker's price, with a coverage check if they have commercial insurance [1].
  • Noom: people who want an app with daily lessons and coaching, and who accept a low-dose plan that may use a compounded drug [2]. Ask which drug, which pharmacy and what the price is after the first 12 weeks before you pay.

Switching between them

There is no conversion between a compounded microdose and a brand drug in any label. A new prescriber decides the starting dose; Zepbound's label starts everyone at 2.5 mg weekly for 4 weeks [4]. See switching GLP-1s.

Safety

Approved GLP-1s carry a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents; do not use them with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 [4]. Compounded GLP-1s are not FDA-approved, and FDA has received 990 adverse event reports for compounded semaglutide as of May 31 2026 [5]. Severe stomach pain that will not go away needs prompt care. Call 911 for signs of a severe allergic reaction.
