Missouri Medicaid is on the covering list
Stateline's April 30, 2026 report, citing KFF, named Missouri among the states whose Medicaid programs cover GLP-1 drugs for obesity, along with Kansas and several others [3]. The same report described states weighing whether to drop that coverage, and KFF counted only 13 covering states in January 2026, down from 16 [7]. We have not read MO HealthNet's own prior authorization criteria, so ask your prescriber which drugs are preferred and what documentation is needed.

- Brand or compounded? FDA says compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved [14].

Label warnings in plain terms
If belly pain becomes severe and does not ease, stop and call; pancreatitis is a listed risk. Allergic swelling or breathing trouble also needs quick care. For people on insulin or a sulfonylurea, low blood sugar becomes more likely. A boxed warning covers thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents [15][16]. In an emergency, call 911.
