Medical weight loss is weight care run by a licensed clinician that can add a prescription drug to diet, activity and behavior support when the clinician thinks it fits.
Las Vegas by the numbers
CDC PLACES models obesity at 32.4% among adults in the city for 2023, a point higher than Clark County's 31.4% [1] [4]. Diabetes runs 12.5% inside city limits [1]. The city counted 679,817 people in mid-2025, with a median household income of $73,877, and 16.0% of residents are 65 or older [5]. Those rates describe a population. A prescriber still decides from your own BMI, history and other conditions.

Nevada coverage, in three lines
- Medicaid: Nevada is not one of the 13 programs KFF found paying for obesity GLP-1s in January 2026 [2].
- Medicare: with 16.0% of the city 65 or older [5], the GLP-1 Bridge matters here. From July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027 it charges qualifying Part D members $50 a month for Wegovy, Foundayo or a Zepbound KwikPen [6] [7].
- Work plans: a Lilly release citing an IFEBP survey says about half of people with employer insurance have no obesity-drug benefit [8]. Ask HR before you assume. See insurance and Medicare.
Brand prices a Las Vegas pharmacy will charge
Two tablets start lowest. Lilly's Foundayo (orforglipron) and Novo's Wegovy tablet each run $149 to $299 a month by strength [9] [3]. The weekly Wegovy pen is $349, after two $199 low-dose fills for first-time buyers [3]. Zepbound, as a vial or KwikPen, costs $299 to $449 [10]. All checked Oct 17, 2026, drug only; visit and lab fees come on top. The GLP-1 cost comparison lists every channel.
Drug-specific local guides: semaglutide in Las Vegas and tirzepatide in Las Vegas.
Hospital programs in the valley
We could not confirm a published medical weight program or price at a Las Vegas hospital system for this update, so none is named. If you prefer hospital care, ask your primary care doctor for an obesity medicine referral, then ask the program whether self-pay is accepted and what the first visit and labs cost.
Questions to put to a Las Vegas clinic
- Brand or compounded? FDA has not approved compounded GLP-1s and does not check them for safety, effectiveness or quality [11].
- Does the monthly fee pay for the drug, or only for visits, labs and coaching?
- Who writes the prescription, and does that person hold a Nevada license? The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners keeps the records [17], and our clinic checklist walks through the check.
- What happens to the price at each dose step?
- If I cancel, do I get money back for medicine not yet shipped?
Trial averages and what happens after
STEP 1 participants on semaglutide 2.4 mg averaged 14.9% weight loss at 68 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo [12]. SURMOUNT-1's tirzepatide 15 mg group averaged 20.9% at 72 weeks [13]. Plenty of people lost less. In the STEP 1 extension, a year after stopping semaglutide, people had put back about two-thirds of what they lost [14]. Telehealth is compared in online GLP-1 programs; nearby guides cover Phoenix, Scottsdale, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles.
Label warnings for Las Vegas patients
These labels list pancreatitis: if stomach pain is severe and will not quit, get seen now [15] [16]. Swelling of the face or throat or trouble breathing may be an allergic reaction. Taking a GLP-1 with insulin or a sulfonylurea raises the odds of a low. A boxed warning covers thyroid C-cell tumors; people with medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 in the family or in their own history should not use them. Stop when pregnancy is recognized. Emergencies: 911.
