Don't qualify for the card? Cheaper ways to get tirzepatide

The $25 card needs commercial insurance that covers Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. If that isn't you, these online programs prescribe tirzepatide (brand Zepbound or compounded) and ship it to your door. Compounded tirzepatide is not FDA-approved. Each card shows the price we checked and what we found on the company.

The Mounjaro $25 savings card: who qualifies

The card, which people also search for as the Mounjaro coupon or copay card, is Lilly's manufacturer savings program for Mounjaro. You activate it on Lilly's site; it is a card number you give the pharmacy, not a promo code [1].

  • Insurance: you must have commercial drug insurance [1].
  • Diagnosis: the prescription must be "for an approved use consistent with FDA-approved product labeling" [1]. Mounjaro's approved uses are blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes for ages 10 and up, and lowering the risk of major heart events in high-risk adults with type 2 diabetes [8].
  • Excluded: anyone in a state, federal or government-funded program, including Medicaid, Medicare, Part D, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, DoD, VA, TRICARE and state drug assistance [1].
  • Age and residence: 18 or older, living in the US or Puerto Rico [1].
  • Form: savings apply only to the Mounjaro single-dose pen [1].
  • Other limits: a signed HIPAA authorization is required; plans in alternate funding programs that require the card are excluded; the card cannot be combined with other offers; in Massachusetts savings do not apply if an AB-rated generic equivalent is available, and in California if an FDA-approved therapeutic equivalent is available [1].

What the card pays, worked through

Plan covers Mounjaro. You may pay as little as $25, with savings capped at $150 per 1-month fill, $300 per 2-month fill and $450 per 3-month fill, and $1,950 a calendar year [1]. If your copay is $100, the card pays $75 and you pay $25. If your copay is $300, the card pays its $150 maximum and you pay $150. Once the card has paid $1,950 in a year, savings stop until January.

Plan does not cover it. You may pay as low as $499 for a 1-month fill, with savings up to $647 a month and $8,411 a year [1]. Either way, the card covers up to 13 fills a calendar year [1].

Expiration. "Card expires and savings end on 12/31/2026" [1]. Lilly may change or end the program at any time without notice [1]. If you start Medicare or other government coverage, call the program at 1-844-805-5807 to stop using the card [1].

No insurance: LillyDirect and GoodRx

LillyDirect. Lilly sells Mounjaro single-dose pens for self-pay only, starting at $499 a month at every strength from 2.5 mg to 15 mg, with a prescription [3]. Prescriptions are filled through Amazon Pharmacy, Fuze Health, Gifthealth or Walmart Pharmacy, and LillyDirect says the purchase is FSA and HSA eligible [3]. Lilly points uninsured patients to this option on its savings page [1].

GoodRx and other discount cards. GoodRx lists Mounjaro as low as $1,087.30 for a carton of 4 pens, which it says is 19% off an average retail price of $1,348.39 (checked Oct 25 2026) [7]. That is more than double the LillyDirect price [3], and about the same as the $1,112.16 list price [2]. GoodRx also says there is no generic Mounjaro [7]. Lilly's card cannot be combined with other offers [1], so a discount card is a cash alternative, not an add-on.

Lilly Cares and Mounjaro patient assistance

Lilly Cares is a nonprofit that gives some Lilly medicines free for up to 12 months to qualifying US patients with financial need [23]. On Oct 25 2026 Mounjaro was not on its list of available medications; the list includes Trulicity and several insulins [6]. So a "Mounjaro patient assistance application" through Lilly Cares is not an option today. Lilly Support Services, 1-800-545-5979, handles questions about other Mounjaro support [1].

If you are prescribed a medicine that is on the list, these are the rules Lilly Cares publishes [5]:

  • Permanent US resident (including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands), with a prescription for a Lilly Cares medicine [5].
  • Not enrolled in Medicaid, full Low Income Subsidy (Extra Help) or VA benefits [5].
  • Insurance by medicine group: no insurance or Medicare Part D for most groups; some groups also accept Medicare Part B without supplemental coverage [5].
  • Household income limits, based on 2024 federal poverty guidelines: 300% for Group 1 ($45,180 for one person), 400% for Group 2 ($60,240) and 500% for Groups 3 and 4 ($75,300) [5].
  • To apply: fill out the application online or on paper, have your prescriber complete their section and send a prescription, then submit online, by fax to 1-844-431-6650 or by mail. Call 1-800-545-6962 for a paper form [5].
  • Enrollment generally lasts 12 months, or to the end of the calendar year with Part D, and you must reapply [5].

Mounjaro coupon for weight loss: what applies

Mounjaro is not approved for weight loss; Lilly's own FAQ says "Mounjaro is not a weight loss drug" [2]. Without type 2 diabetes, a Mounjaro prescription is outside its approved uses, so the savings card, which needs an approved use, will not apply [1] [8].

Zepbound contains the same drug, tirzepatide, and is approved to reduce excess weight and keep it off in adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition, and to treat moderate to severe sleep apnea in adults with obesity [9]. On LillyDirect, Zepbound vials and KwikPens cost $299 (2.5 mg), $399 (5 mg) and $449 (7.5 to 15 mg) a month when you refill within 45 days; late refills cost $499 at 7.5 mg and $699 at 10 to 15 mg [4]. The Zepbound label says using it with other tirzepatide products is not recommended [9]. See the Zepbound savings card, Zepbound cost and Mounjaro vs Zepbound.

Compounded tirzepatide costs less in the programs we track, but it is not Mounjaro. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved, and FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are sold [10]. Compare programs on compounded tirzepatide and cheapest tirzepatide.

Medicare and Medicaid

The savings card excludes all government plans [1]. With Medicare Part D, Lilly says about 8 in 10 patients pay $0 to $50 for a 28-day supply, and it lists a 2027 Part D yearly out-of-pocket maximum of $2,400; with Extra Help, branded drugs cost up to $12.65 a month [2]. Lilly says Medicaid copays average about $5 to $11 a month, depending on the state [2]. See GLP-1s and Medicare and Medicaid GLP-1 coverage by state.

Mounjaro coupon codes and look-alike offers

Lilly's savings card is activated on Lilly's site, not with a code [1]. A site selling a "Mounjaro coupon" for a compounded drug is not selling Mounjaro; compounded drugs are not FDA-approved [10]. Check any telehealth company against our FDA warning letter tracker.

Programs that prescribe tirzepatide legally

These are clean or caution-rated programs from our cheapest tirzepatide list, with the prices and dates we checked. The brand programs prescribe Zepbound for weight loss; for type 2 diabetes, ask your own clinician or a visit service about Mounjaro. The tirzepatide coupon page covers both Lilly cards side by side.

Mounjaro safety

Mounjaro has a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rats; do not use it with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 [8]. Low blood sugar is more likely with insulin or a sulfonylurea [8]. Severe stomach pain that will not go away can be a sign of pancreatitis and needs prompt care [8]. Call 911 for signs of a severe allergic reaction. See Mounjaro side effects.

Questions people ask

How can I get Mounjaro cheap?

With commercial insurance that covers it, Lilly's savings card can bring Mounjaro to as little as $25 for a 1-, 2- or 3-month fill through Dec 31 2026 [1]. Without coverage, the card or LillyDirect self-pay brings it to $499 a month [1] [3], against a $1,112.16 list price [2].

How do I get Mounjaro for $25?

You need commercial drug insurance that covers Mounjaro, a prescription for an FDA-approved use (type 2 diabetes), and an activated Lilly savings card. Savings are capped at $150 a month and $1,950 a year, and government plans are excluded [1].

Is there a Mounjaro patient assistance program?

Not through Lilly Cares: Mounjaro was not on the Lilly Cares medication list on Oct 25 2026 [6]. Lilly's support line is 1-800-545-5979 [1], and LillyDirect sells Mounjaro for self-pay starting at $499 a month [3].

Does GoodRx work for Mounjaro?

GoodRx lists Mounjaro as low as $1,087.30 for a carton of 4 pens (checked Oct 25 2026) [7]. LillyDirect's self-pay price starts at $499 a month [3], so for cash buyers GoodRx costs more.

Can I use the Mounjaro coupon for weight loss?

No. The Mounjaro card needs a prescription for an FDA-approved use [1], and Mounjaro is approved only for type 2 diabetes uses [8]. Zepbound, which contains the same drug, tirzepatide, and is approved for weight management [9], costs $299 to $449 a month on LillyDirect with a refill within 45 days [4].

Can I use the Mounjaro savings card with Medicare or Medicaid?

No. The terms exclude Medicare (including Part D, Medicare Advantage and Medigap), Medicaid, VA, TRICARE and other government programs [1]. Lilly says about 8 in 10 Part D patients pay $0 to $50 for a 28-day supply [2].

When does the Mounjaro savings card expire?

Lilly's terms say "Card expires and savings end on 12/31/2026," and Lilly may change or end the program at any time [1].
